Julius Caesar

“Imagine, dear reader, a ship in the time of the late Republic, when Rome reigned as master of the Mediterranean, but all was not well within her borders. Perhaps you have been on a ship? A boat? Is there a difference between the two? Boats are for fun, like fishing and messing about; ships are for business. And, young Julius meant business…”

So begins the first of five vignettes in the Julius Caesar series. Each story in this series is written on a two-sided sheet of paper, and is accompanied by illustrations, a map, and a writing reflection page. The core element of each vignette is a series of “character questions,” designed to have students think more deeply about virtue and vice in the man Julius Caesar.
